Corbin’s return to the hospital…

This is the video that started it all:

We had an in-home pediatrician visit on Friday, Aug. 17th, 24 hours after we arrived home from the hospital.  We captured this video of Corbin twitching just minutes before the appointment.  Corbin started this twitching Weds while we were at the hospital but it was dismissed as normal baby twitching.  Our pediatrician thought otherwise and a couple of hours after her visit Corbin, my mom and I were off to Children’s.

The doctors felt the twitching could be benign sleep myoclonus, which was described to us as strange baby twitching, but feared it could be a sign of a serious problem.  Some of the things they feared were seizures/epilepsy, brain damage or a serious illness.  Corbin under went a CT scan, then had a IV inserted into his arm to draw blood, they drew urine with a catheter, the ER doctors tried to do a lumbar puncture to draw spinal fluid but after 3 attempts were unsuccessful, and then he was hooked up to an EEG.  Originally we were only going to spend the night in the ER, but the more our video circulated through the doctors we were soon admitted to the NICU.  There they re-did the spinal puncture and were successful and started to administer antibiotics via IV.  They drew more blood, but the more blood they drew the more viscous it became (probably because Corbin hadn’t been given enough time to eat) so they had to use a scalpel to puncture the vein to get the blood.  Finally he was put on a bilirubin mat and under the lights because his bilirubin count jumped from 11.1 to 17.2 in the time we were at the hospital getting checked out.  I was out of my mind with worry, thank goodness I have a calm and understanding husband by my side.  Most of the cultures needed 48 hours to grow, so we stayed in the NICU until Monday morning.  In the end every single test came back negative, and as I thought he is perfectly healthy.

Another beautiful addition

Logan is 3!!

Logan turned 3 on Aug 11th, I can’t believe he’s such a big boy already!  He picked dinosaurs, so we ran with it…

Here’s his dino cake… Logan helped put the rocks (milk duds), dirt (crushed oreos), and dinos on the cake.  He thought it was pretty cool.

This is our pteranadon piñata… it was quite the adventure, I gave up a few times but Matt came up with a plan to make my disaster work.

Logan had so much fun and he was so excited to have all his friends over at the same time!! Thanks to everyone for making our little Logan the happiest 3 year old!

Our Newest Family Member…

No it’s not Corbin… it’s Tuga and Fishy, Logan’s first pets!  Logan won Tuga at the county fair and then I read goldfish are companion fish, so we bought Fishy at the store.  He LOVES them!!

The kids had a great time at the fair, Logan was too short to ride any of the rides so we let him play some games, we couldn’t believe he won a fish all by himself!

Zoey loved the animals at the petting zoo and in the barns.  They both had a good time and we all were exhausted after, it was a fun family outting!!
