November Round Up

Sooo I just realized I didn’t put up a single post in November… time is just flying by!  Here’s what we were up to:

Sibling love: 

Corbin started laughing, a real deep belly laugh, which is just so cute we try to make him laugh all the time.

Corbin had one ugly hair do going on, after we took this shot we decided to put an end to it: Matt calls him “Powder” (I’m pretty sure that just dated me)

Corbin is too cute! He was 3 months in November and he’s growing so fast I wish I could slow it down, instead I have resorted to taking lots of pictures!

Corbin’s 2 month

Ack! I can’t believe how fast time flies, Corbin is growing too fast!  Logan is too, and he’s really gentle with Corbin and so proud to be his “super big broter”.

Three  kids can be quite an adventure, but I believe we have the best companions to spend the day with:

Trying to get the kiddos to eat breakfast… being silly was the breakfast of champions this day!

Corbin is smiling so much, he makes everyone happy!

Logan is the “best paper cutter” EVER!  - I stepped out to run errands by myself while my mom was in town, came home to find out Logan had cut paper for 3 hours non-stop!

Logan loves his cousins, he calls them Antony, Adri, and Arionix, or for short “my boys”

Matt is the best husband ever, cut and routed (by hand) 80 pieces of wood for our ward’s super saturday!

One of Corbin’s shirts accidently found it’s way into Logan’s drawer, he dresses himself these days and I found him downstairs like this:

Zoey’s had a bit of a runny nose the past few weeks, one morning we found one half of her hair all tangled up in snot… she’s still adorable all covered in boogers.

Logan shoved as many grapes as he could into his mouth and stuffed them into his cheeks like a “chipedmunk”, then proceeded to make funny faces… he had us rolling with laughter at dinner!

Corbin is one month old already!!

He’s opening his eyes more and more…

He doesn’t mind his baths, and they usually calm him down

He moves more, I usually find him unwrapped and at the edge of his crib when I wake up

Logan has already begun Corbin’s dinosaur education…he he he!

Dinner Time??

Long are the days where dinner time was just about eating, instead there’s a lot of:

Animal imitations

erratic behavior induced by eating green beans

where’s my pretzel???

digging for gold

and a lot of “not this again!”

Corbin’s return to the hospital…

This is the video that started it all:

We had an in-home pediatrician visit on Friday, Aug. 17th, 24 hours after we arrived home from the hospital.  We captured this video of Corbin twitching just minutes before the appointment.  Corbin started this twitching Weds while we were at the hospital but it was dismissed as normal baby twitching.  Our pediatrician thought otherwise and a couple of hours after her visit Corbin, my mom and I were off to Children’s.

The doctors felt the twitching could be benign sleep myoclonus, which was described to us as strange baby twitching, but feared it could be a sign of a serious problem.  Some of the things they feared were seizures/epilepsy, brain damage or a serious illness.  Corbin under went a CT scan, then had a IV inserted into his arm to draw blood, they drew urine with a catheter, the ER doctors tried to do a lumbar puncture to draw spinal fluid but after 3 attempts were unsuccessful, and then he was hooked up to an EEG.  Originally we were only going to spend the night in the ER, but the more our video circulated through the doctors we were soon admitted to the NICU.  There they re-did the spinal puncture and were successful and started to administer antibiotics via IV.  They drew more blood, but the more blood they drew the more viscous it became (probably because Corbin hadn’t been given enough time to eat) so they had to use a scalpel to puncture the vein to get the blood.  Finally he was put on a bilirubin mat and under the lights because his bilirubin count jumped from 11.1 to 17.2 in the time we were at the hospital getting checked out.  I was out of my mind with worry, thank goodness I have a calm and understanding husband by my side.  Most of the cultures needed 48 hours to grow, so we stayed in the NICU until Monday morning.  In the end every single test came back negative, and as I thought he is perfectly healthy.
